Prayers

There’s a portion of the prayer where you can list to God the different sexual sins you have committed. I recommend writing down any that come to memory. This is not about shame — it’s about honesty and surrender to God, trusting He will help purify and heal us from our sin. Invite God in and take your time: you may feel memories come to you of things you have done. For me, it was like a movie reel of my past slowly replaying. So take your time, be patient with yourself. PRAYER

Heavenly Father,

Lord, in your presence I want to acknowledge that I have lusted and made sexual mistakes. Please help bring to remembrance the sexual sin I have committed as I lay them down to you, Lord. [You can list the sexual sins here, one by one. Take your time.] Please forgive me for my sins, that I may receive your mercy and healing. I also forgive myself for my mistakes. Lead me and teach me to pursue intimacy and romance with a pure heart moving forward. Thank you for your mercy and for healing me.

Us men carry our own darkness, and these shadows of the past can resurface and haunt us. It’s like the enemy is taunting us, saying, “Remember the time you did that?”

God wants to free us from the bondage of guilt, regret or shame. Whether that be an old addiction, lustful pattern, or the time you let down someone you love, God calls us to “cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” -1 Peter 5:7

PRAYER

Heavenly Father,

Lord, I need your help. Guilt and regret are weighing me down, and it’s painful. In the past, [insert your resurfacing problems here / repent if you haven’t already]. God, I acknowledge I made mistakes, but I choose to receive your mercy. I surrender and renounce any shame, guilt or regret in Your mighty name, Jesus. I declare I am free from bondage. I am not defined by my mistakes! For who the Son sets free is free indeed. Thank you for letting me cast all my cares upon You and for surrounding me with Your songs of deliverance.

I pray in the mighty name of Jesus.
